What Get Set for School is
Get Set for School helps children become familiar with their new school, build positive relationships, and develop confidence before they start Reception.
The project brings together families, early years settings, schools, and other professionals to ensure children receive the right support at the right time.
Get Set for School may be helpful for children who:
- find new situations or changes to routine difficult
- need extra reassurance when separating from familiar adults
- benefit from additional support with confidence, emotional wellbeing, or social interaction
- are developing communication and language skills

- meeting families
- sharing information with school staff
Transition visits

If your child is due to start a school taking part in the Get Set project, and their early years setting feels they may benefit, they will talk with you and involve you before requesting a place for your child in the project.
Families will be kept informed throughout the process and will have opportunities to share information, ask questions and contribute to planning.
