The Early Years Service

Discover how B&NES Early Years Service can help you provide high-quality care and education for children from birth to five in your nursery, preschool, childminding setting or school.

Get support for your early years setting or school

We work with early years settings and other early childhood organisations across Bath and North East Somerset to help all children learn and develop, especially those facing disadvantage.

Our approach

We use research to guide our work with you, building on your strengths and developing supportive relationships. Through listening, coaching, working together and networking, we help you create inclusive learning environments where every child can take part, play, explore and develop critical thinking skills. We recognise that high-quality interactions between adults and children support future learning and development.

Support for your setting

Our team has first-hand experience of working in early years. If you work in a home-based or group-based early years setting or a school, we can offer advice, support tailored to your needs and professional development opportunities.

Continuing professional development (CPD) and resources

You can view and book continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities on the Hub, an open online training and communication platform. You can also find council and national documents and guidance to support your work.

To set up an account, email early_years@bathnes.gov.uk

If your Hub account is linked to an early years setting in Bath and North East Somerset, you will also receive our weekly roundup and termly Early Years Matters newsletter by email.

We also work as part of the regional Bristol and Beyond Stronger Practice Hub to offer you further professional development opportunities.
