Language for Life
Language for Life helps you identify and support children aged 18 months to five years who may need extra help with communication and language. The programme provides training and support for early years teams in Bath and North East Somerset.
Training and support for your team
The programme helps your team develop the tools, skills and confidence to identify children who may need extra support.
BSW Community Health speech and language therapists work with our Early Years Service to train your whole team to use the Wellcomm toolkit and supporting activities. These help children make progress with their communication and language skills. Parents and carers are encouraged to use linked activities at home.
Language for Life Quality Mark
After training, your childminding setting, nursery, pre-school or reception class continues as part of the Language for Life Quality Mark. You continue to use the programme and monitor how it helps children, with further training and support when you need it.
Every setting will be offered the opportunity to take part. Around 80 settings are already trained or are starting training over the next year.
If you are a parent or carer
You can look for the Language for Life logo at your child’s early years setting and ask staff how you can get involved.
If you work in an early years setting
