Relational & Trauma Counselling for new & expectant mothers
A 10-week one-to-one Counselling service for new & expectant mothers affected by their own Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) which supports mothers to heal past hurts and develop stronger family relationships. A Bright Start Children’s Centre Service delivered by a trained Psychotherapist and supported trainee Counselling Psychologists.
If we have experienced significant stress or trauma in early life and childhood ourselves, we can find that these historical relationship patterns get repeated in other relationships later in life, which can bring up difficulties in how we are with our partners and even our babies / children.
If we do not feel supported, dealing with the 24/7 job of being a parent can bring up the unresolved hurts and relationship challenges that it was not possible to address in our own childhood. It can be of great benefit to have the opportunity to heal these traumas and experiences of early life adversity to develop strong and nurturing family relationships.
This programme of one-to-one relational counselling support (up to 10 weeks) aims to help you:
- Understand your own emotional needs and
- Deal with the challenges of this powerful and demanding stage of life.
The one-to-one counselling sessions will assist you in:
- Getting to know yourself and your relationship styles better
- Finding ways to navigate situations and relationships which you find challenging
- Working to resolve past hurts that may still be affecting your thoughts and behaviours today
This service is also available to mothers who have experienced children being removed from their care.
