What does the Educational Psychology Service Offer?
We aim to improve learning outcomes for children and young people by the application of psychology. Educational Psychologists work collaboratively with parents/carers, teachers and other professionals, agencies and services such as the Children Missing Education Service (CMES), Statutory Special Educational Needs Service (SSEN), Hospital Education Reintegration Service (HERS), Early Years team and Social Care.
The EPS provides psychological advice for the inclusion in Education, Health and Care needs assessments of children and young people with special educational needs. If appropriate, we can also become involved once a child or young person has an Education, Health and Care Plan.
Who can request support from the Educational Psychology Service?
We become involved with children and young people between 0 and 25 years of age through the Education, Health and Care needs assessment process and, when appropriate, for those with Education, Health and Care Plans.
Where is the service based?
We are part of the Local Authority’s Education Inclusion Service.
How can I request support?
Access to the service is via a statutory Education, Health and Care needs assessment. We can also discuss concerns with parent/carers and other professionals and signpost to appropriate services.
