About the childcare provider
Description
Sunshine Pre-School has been established for over 30 years. We are a registered charity and are run by a management committee made up of parents and volunteers. We serve the urban community of Odd Down and surrounding areas near Bath. We are situated in the Odd Down United Reformed Church and have the benefit of our own accommodation and a small grassed area for outside activities.
We rely heavily on fundraising to supplement the government funding and hold several events throughout the year.
We have 2 rooms. One is the pre-school room. The children in this room come in, sit on the carpet and we welcome everyone. They then split into groups for adult led activities which introduce them to new experiences and help them to gain new skills, as well as helping them to learn to work with others.
The other room is the 2 year old room for the first part of the morning. They can play with a variety of toys/games and take part in activities. They then come into the pre-school room to join the others
We pride ourselves on the different activities we offer, which includes painting and drawing, puzzles, sand play, books, climbing frame, play dough, collage, construction play, home corner, stories, singing, outdoor play and many others. We organise our sessions so that the children can choose from, and work at, a range of activities and, in doing so, build up their ability to select and work through a task to its completion.
We have a time of physical activity everyday which can involve music, bats and balls, parachute, obstacle course, climbing frame. This can take place outside or inside.
We have a rolling snack from 10.15-11.00am, where milk or water is provided, and the children bring their own snack. They are free to choose when they want to eat.
At the end of the morning we sit on the carpet to have a story or sing some songs and have some down time listening to calming music.
We are open term time only.
