Information about B&NES Parent Carer Forum

What does B&NES Parent Carer Forum Offer?

We are a group of parent carers of children and young people with a range of SEN and disabilities in Bath and North East Somerset. Our role is to represent the views of parent carers of young people with SEND who are aged 0-25 years.

We meet with the local authority and other service providers to ensure that the services we all need for our children are provided in the way we need them. We highlight unmet needs and let the LA know what is and isn't working for us all. We work with the LA, not for them.

We gather parent carer views through our website, our Facebook page, our regular free coffee mornings and attending other groups and events. We also support parent carers by helping them find the answers to questions they have about support and services.  In order to join our mailing list, access the cafes or come to any events you do not need to be the main carer for a child with SEND and the child does not need to have a diagnosis.

Neurodevelopmental (ND) Pathway Support Line

Covering Bath, North East Somerset and Wiltshire, the ND Pathway is an assessment service for children and young people who are showing possible signs of Autism and/or ADHD. It also supports those who are undergoing ADHD medication reviews.

A new telephone and email support service is available for parents and carers navigating the ND assessment pathway, offering advice and understanding, including help in completing the needs-led profile and submitting a referral for ND assessment.

Who can use it?

Any parent or carer of a child or young person who may be showing signs of ADHD or Autism and those who have already been referred to the ND Pathway.

When is it available?

Telephone lines and email inboxes are currently manned on Wednesdays from 9-1 and Thursdays from 1-5. Tel; 01761 502 515. Weds 9am - 1pm, Thurs 1pm - 5pm. Email: ndsupport@banespcf.co.uk

Who can request support from B&NES Parent Carer Forum?

Anyone living in B&NES who is involved in caring for a young person with SEND aged 0 - 25 years. The young person does not need to have a diagnosis and you do not have to be their parent or main carer.

Where is the service based/where can I access the service?

We don't have a physical base. To get in touch with us you can use the website banespcf.co.uk where you will find a 'contact us' tab, or our Facebook page B&NES Parent Carer Forum, or by visiting one of our free drop-in cafes which are open during term-time on Fridays from 10.30 - 12.00 at Batheaston and Wednesdays from 1.30 - 3pm at Kelston.

Everyone is very welcome to come along to see us or just to meet and have a chat with other parent carers over coffee and cake. If you would like to attend one of our steering group meetings (usually at the Carers' Centre) just email us at info@banespcf.co.uk and we will give you more details.
