Specialist Autism Support Service (SASS)

The Specialist Autism Support Service has been commissioned by Bath and North East Somerset Local Authority to support autistic children and young adults up to the age of 25. The young people they support must have a diagnosis of Autism/Autistic Spectrum Disorder and have a B&NES home address.

SASS support autistic children and young people, their parent carers and any professionals working to support them, with some universal level support also available to those on the diagnosis pathway or identifying as autistic.

Young People

SASS have created a Teen Padlet providing details of their Teen groups for young people aged 11-19 years.

The Parent & Carer Support Padlet contains information around support for families including dates for upcoming training, coffee mornings, workshops around understanding autistic identity and the SASS Community Choir.

You’ll also find resources to support in a variety of areas, including emotional regulation, transitions, social scripts, books and social media voices, understanding key concepts to help all families to understand more about Autism. 

Included within this Padlet is also signposting to various support groups for both you and your child/young person, and contacts to key groups and services available across B&NES.

SASS regular newsletters include best practice, updates, new resources and more.

Professionals

From their padlet homepage, professionals will be able to locate information to enhance the support they offer autistic young people in various areas.

This padlet includes templates, guidance, referral forms, training opportunities and information about the support SASS can offer autistic individuals. 

Training for Professionals- Including Autism Education Trust (AET) training; so that staff supporting your child can access updated support and information.
