FYP Interventions

FYP Interventions goes beyond traditional classrooms to empower young people. Our Alternative Learning Provision offers a personalised approach that caters to young peoples needs and future goals. This includes academics, social and emotional development. FYP also connects young people with mentors for various needs, and our trauma-informed staff provide a safe space for healing and building resilience. Additionally, a Post-16 Programme helps young people leaving school navigate their next steps.

FYP Interventions - Alternative Learning Provision (ALP), Mentoring and Trauma Informed Support Practitioners

ALP is designed for young people who thrive outside traditional classrooms. It provides a supportive and personalised learning environment with a focus on:

  • Individual needs: Catering to diverse learning styles and catering to each student's unique needs.
  • Holistic development: Combining academics with social, emotional, and vocational exploration.
  • Engaging learning: Blending academic rigor with hands-on experiences and flexible schedules.
  • Empowerment: Equipping students with the tools and guidance to succeed.
  • Courses offered: Include ASDAN programs for short courses, personal development qualifications, and employability skills training.

Mentoring connects young people with mentors to help them achieve personal and professional goals. FYP offers various mentoring programs, including:

  • Life Skills Mentoring: Provides guidance on navigating everyday challenges and building essential life skills.
  • Academic Mentoring: Offers support to excel in academics, covering specific subjects, study skills, and test preparation.
  • Sports Mentoring: Pairs aspiring athletes with mentors to improve performance, build mental resilience, and achieve athletic goals.
  • Transition Mentoring: Offers support and guidance during life changes like starting a new school, entering the workforce, or facing personal challenges.
  • SEMH Specialist Support: Provides a safe and supportive environment for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs. Focuses on social interaction, emotional regulation, mental health, self-esteem, and addressing challenging behaviours.

Supporting Young People Impacted by Trauma

At FYP Interventions, we understand that some young people may have experienced trauma (ACE's) in their lives. These experiences can have a lasting impact on the well-being of young people. Our staff includes trauma-informed practitioners who are equipped to:

  • Recognise the effects of trauma: We are aware of the signs and symptoms of trauma and how it can manifest in different ways.
  • Therapeutic approach: We use a strength based approach which seeks to understand and respond to the impact on young people's lives. Our approach emphasises physical, psychological and emotional safety.
  • Create a safe space: We provide a supportive and confidential environment where individuals feel comfortable discussing their experiences.
  • Build resilience: Our trauma-informed practitioners focus on building an individual's strengths and coping mechanisms to help them overcome challenges.
  • Collaborate for success: We work collaboratively with other professionals and support systems to ensure a holistic approach to healing and growth.

FYP also offers a Post 16 Programme for young people navigating the path beyond school. This program helps them explore their potential and prepare for their next steps through personalised guidance, real-world experiences, and building confidence through vocational courses.
