Compass Alternative Provision

An alternative provision that puts the education first. Compass understands that not all class rooms should have four walls so using our 4 different locations we engage and inspire through our AQA courses putting the child in the Centre of our approach.

Compass Alternative Provision was setup due to the directors frustration around other ALP current offers. We wanted to ensure Compass was more education, qualifications and nurture than bowling and fast food. Compass is a accredited AQA site with thousands of courses and qualifications on offer that suits the young persons wishes and strengths. Compass can take from year 3 to post 16 NEET and everything in the middle tailoring the education to the young persons needs. Compass has 4 locations in and around Somerset and Bristol.

  • Pear Tree Farm, Wells - a animal sanctuary situated in a quiet village with pigs, sheep, ferrets, ducks, chickens, rabbits, horses, goats where the children complete their animal care awards. Pear Tree also has a large vegetable patch area for our horticulture award and a working site for our wood work and craft awards.
  • Forest School, Strode - with 3 acres of woodland to run around including our roundhouse facility an incredible location for our English and Math's tuition. A typical forest school setting with den building, tree house making and ample space to run and explore.
  • Chew Valley Organic Farm - On the side of Chew Valley Lake our partner farm offers the chance for the young people to plant, pick and cook their own food. With a fully covered roundhouse our older NEET pupils can obtain cooking awards. We also have a large amount of land perfect for our archery sessions an the lake provides a great time for fishing.
  • Lawrence Weston Farm - Our final site is used on Tuesday and Thursdays and is another great site for our animal care award with lots of jobs including the baby goats, chicks, Guinea pigs and not forgetting the pigs! This site also has provision for our English and Math's tuition as well as a forest section.

We follow a child centered approach to help them reach their potential. We provide daily journal entries for parents and schools and termly reports. We are happy to attend any reviews required and are committed to working with all shareholders to ensure successful provision for our students.
