Bath Area Play Project AP SEND

Bath Area Play Project are an Ofsted registered, trusted charity and third sector organisation established over 40 years ago. We recognise the powerful impact and value that play has for children experiencing adverse experiences, using a therapeutic, trauma informed playful approach to supporting children to develop resilience. We recognise the importance of self-directed play for children’s development and facilitate a range of play based opportunities, often outdoors that support and enrich children’s wellbeing and capacity to learn. As a child-centred organisation with a strong inclusive ethos, our staff advocate for, listen and respond to children’s voices embedding these principles using the power of play as a catalyst for positive change.

We work with schools, families and children to support better outcomes focused on the holistic needs of the child. We are SEND specialists, with qualified and experienced primary and secondary teachers, Early Years educators with extensive SEND experience and therapists on our team all of whom have the child at the centre of their support.

We provide bespoke alternative provision in term time, usually based in our fully accessible centre providing half or whole day sessions on a 1:1 basis. Children learn best when they are emotionally secure, feel safe and any developmental gaps supported. We develop packages of play based support that meet these needs and enable children to engage and progress. Children should have an EHCP and we work closely with other agencies to ensure that the child's needs identified in the plan are in place.
