About

TLC LIVE Online School provides structured, full-time and part-time online schooling for children and young people at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 who are unable to access education within a traditional school environment. As an OEAS-accredited online school, all provision is delivered by fully qualified, experienced UK teachers through live, interactive lessons in small groups of no more than nine students, via our secure online learning platform. Our model mirrors many aspects of a traditional school day — offering a consistent timetable, regular attendance expectations and a broad curriculum — whilst being specifically designed to meet the needs of learners who find mainstream settings difficult to access. Learners can typically begin provision within 48 hours of referral.

We have extensive experience supporting young people with a wide range of needs including SEND, SEMH, autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD, emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), anxiety, trauma and complex medical conditions. Our approach is trauma-informed, attachment-aware and relational — recognising that trust and confidence must often be established before significant academic progress can occur. Teaching is highly differentiated, with strategies including scaffolding, visual supports, reduced cognitive load, alternative communication methods and assistive technologies, adapted to each learner's individual profile.

Curriculum and Qualifications: Our curriculum spans KS3 and KS4, including English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and PSHE, alongside accredited pathways including IGCSEs and AQA Unit Awards. Level 1 and Level 2 courses are available as alternatives to GCSE where appropriate. Flexible pathways, including core-subject-only options, are available for learners who benefit from a reduced timetable. Learner wellbeing is embedded throughout the school week, including through mentoring sessions, PSHE assemblies and project-based activities designed to build confidence, creativity and teamwork.

Personalised Planning and SEND Support: Every placement begins with a detailed onboarding process, including review of referral documentation, EHCPs, risk assessments and previous educational records, alongside planning meetings with families, commissioners and professionals. Each learner receives an Individual Learning Plan with personalised outcomes linked to engagement, wellbeing, EHCP objectives and Preparing for Adulthood goals.

Monitoring, Reporting and Partnership: Attendance and participation are monitored in real time, with escalation protocols activated where a learner fails to attend or disengages. Detailed reporting captures academic progress, attendance, engagement and progress against EHCP outcomes, with six-weekly reviews bringing together learners, families, schools, local authority representatives and other professionals. Dedicated Account Managers provide a consistent point of contact throughout each placement.

Transition planning is embedded from the outset — whether towards reintegration into a physical school, specialist provision, further education or employment — with clear goals built into ILPs and review processes. Where appropriate, we support blended packages combining online schooling with attendance at a mainstream or specialist setting, providing continuity and stability as learners build readiness for their next step.
