About

Our House AP

Our House AP provides a small, nurturing alternative provision for students who benefit from a personalised and therapeutic approach to education. We support students who may have experienced early childhood trauma, anxiety, or social, emotional and mental health needs, offering calm, homely environments where they can feel safe and ready to learn.

All of our educational work is delivered on a 1:1 basis. Each student follows an individual education package tailored to their interests, strengths and areas of need. This personalised approach allows students to engage with learning at a pace and in a way that works best for them.

Alongside individual learning, students come together to build social confidence and positive peer relationships.

Our Sites - We operate across several unique settings:

The Barn (KS3 & KS4) - A welcoming, relaxed and homely environment. Students gather around the dining table in the lounge to eat together, sharing games and laughter at the heart of the space. Smaller breakout areas including quiet spaces, an arts and crafts room, and a fully functioning kitchen allow for focused ASDAN accreditation work as well as other subject work, before students rejoin the group for lunch. In the afternoons, we offer a range of engaging sessions such as art, jewellery making, trips to the park, personal gym sessions, swimming and many other activities designed to build confidence, social skills and wellbeing.

The Studio (KS3 & KS4) - A vocational setting offering hair and beauty provision alongside core subjects, helping older students build confidence, practical skills and future pathways. The site benefits from outdoor space with beautiful views and access to woodland.

The Lodge (KS2) - Set within large grounds with plenty of outdoor space to explore, this site is designed for younger students who thrive outdoors. It offers a relaxed environment where students benefit from movement, fresh air and outdoor learning alongside personalised education.

The Woodland (All ages) - Our woodland space, complete with a stream, offers a forest-school style approach. This therapeutic outdoor environment supports regulation, resilience, teamwork and hands-on learning in nature and is accessible to students across all provisions.

Our Approach

Everything we do is trauma-informed. We are a Thrive AP and keep PACE (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy) at the heart of our work, focusing on trust, safety and connection.

Learning is delivered creatively and practically. Alongside Maths, English and PSHE, we focus on pro-social skills, wellbeing, relationships and personal development. Students can work towards ASDAN accreditations in a wide range of subjects, including Construction, Uniformed Services, Health and Fitness, Foodwise and many more.
