Become a Short Breaks Provider

Opportunity for providers to bid for funding to provide short break provision to young people with SEND.

Bath and North East Somerset Council have been reviewing their Short Break for Disabled Children’s provision. These are commissioned activities that take place outside of the school day targeted at children aged 0-21 years, with Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND) and/ or additional needs. As part of the review the Council consulted with a number of stakeholders. The consultation results have given the Council the mandate to commission the previous Targeted Term Time Only provision differently. Full details of the Short Breaks Consultation can be found on the side of this page.

Targeted Term Time Only provision are activities and clubs offered to eligible children to attend outside of the school day and during the school term only.

In the future there will be an annual opportunity to apply for funding in order to offer existing or new activities and clubs. In order to access these opportunities on an annual basis Providers will need to join the Council’s framework for Term Time Only Short Breaks, which will be advertised soon.

The Council has made every effort to ensure the application process is not onerous and to encourage smaller organisations to apply for funding. The application process will be open from October 2022 and will reopen for applications on a yearly basis. Providers should ensure they are registered on the Supplying the South West Procurement Portal as the process will be managed through the portal and all communication about future applications will be advertised here.
