Benefits of choosing a Direct Payment

Direct Payments could offer you more choice, control, and flexibility in the way your support is provided and the way you manage your life.

Direct Payments could provide the following benefits:

  • you can choose to be an employer, you decide who you employ
  • you will be able to direct your employees, telling them how and when you want your care delivered
  • you can also choose to arrange to pay for support and services from a variety of organisations

Get a Direct Payment

Before you can get a Direct Payment, the first step is an assessment of your care needs. This assessment can be conducted by us at Bath & North East Somerset Council, or the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Get support with your Direct Payment

We have a Direct Payment Support Team that offers individualised and unbiased information, guidance and signposting to people who are:

  • interested in taking up a Direct Payment
  • newly assessed
  • already in receipt of a Direct Payment

The Direct Payment Support Team can support you by:

  • visiting you at home or talking over the phone
  • explaining how a Direct Payment works, and your responsibilities as an employer
  • helping you to recruit your Personal Assistant(s)
  • supporting you to access services provided by other organisations
  • providing a list of payroll providers and their fees
