Children and Young People Domestic Abuse Service
Our Children and Young People (CYP) service offers practical and emotional support, information, and education for CYP who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse.
Our specialist team support children to explore their feelings and help them understand what they have been through, know they are not to blame, help them to stay safe and let them know where they can turn if they need more help.
What can you expect?
- Back on Track: Groupwork with young people who have experienced domestic abuse in the home. For children over 7 years old, this programme gives younger people the opportunity to explore their experiences of abuse through safe, confidential, and interactive sessions alongside gaining tools that will help each young person feel more confident and less isolated.
- Outreach: One – to – one outreach for children aged 4 to 17 years who have experienced domestic abuse in the family home and/or in their own relationships. Our sessions give young people a space where they can begin to explore and articulate their experiences. This outreach may also include some family work, helping parents better understand how they may be able to support their child.
- Connect with Respect: An engaging, dynamic preventative programme for schools and other settings that educates and supports children and young people to have happy, healthy relationships for life. It encourages peer support and equips teachers and other professionals to support their students.
We work with local schools raising awareness of the issues faced by children and young people around domestic abuse and support staff to educate students about healthy relationships. Whatever you need, get in touch and we will see what we can tailor to support you.
