Bath Home Companions offers bespoke companion support to clients with physical, mental or other needs in Bath and surrounding areas. This includes practical support to enable them to stay in their own homes. We offer both long-term support for those with ongoing conditions and respite support for those who need temporary help due to an illness or operation. We have particular experience of Dementia, Parkinson's and those who have suffered Strokes. We offer consistent support by visits from the same companion, enabling a truly close and effective relationship to form.
All Companions are fully vetted, with references and enhanced DBS checks and are fully insured to take clients out for leisure or for support with appointments.
Our companions are practical, knowledgeable and personable and their tasks can be many and varied, depending on the needs of the client. We aim to be led by the client and to work with them to fulfil any and all duties to enhance their lives and make things easier for them. This can include support such as housework, organising of medication, meal preparation, help with computers/iPads/mobile phones, help making appointments, dealing with bills or household practicalities, shopping etc.
We work with physios and post-operative care-givers to help clients undertake physiotherapy or exercises at home. Our companions have extensive experience enabling them to make recommendations on additional support givers, equipment and facilities for the home.
Whilst much of the work in based in clients' homes, we also try to enhance people's lives by taking them out, whether that is to the shops, to meet friends, the theatre, garden centre or anywhere else they wish to go! We often accompany clients to doctor, dentist or hospital appointments, providing not only the transport but an additional pair of ears and vital support.
We build strong and secure relationships with our clients by having consistent visits from the same one or two companions, rather than a rota of many. This enables us to be much more responsive and to pick up on any concerns or changes in an individuals' circumstances. We often work closely with family members (especially if they are based a distance away) providing updates, discussing and advising on the best care.
