Sheltered and retirement housing is usually for older people who want to move into a place that’s perhaps smaller and more manageable. Examples might include a bungalow, flat or apartment, and may have the option of shared rooms for activities or social events. There are a number of options if you would like to stay independent, but also want the security of getting help with your health and care support needs, or on-call services.
Sheltered housing
Homesearch is a sheltered housing lettings scheme, co-ordinated by us (the council) and housing associations. Homesearch generally offers one-bedroom housing with a low cost rent, sometimes with shared access to a guest room. To find out more, search for 'sheltered housing' on the Homesearch website.
You can also find sheltered and retirement housing in Bath and North East Somerset on the Housing Care website. This is a nationwide charity-run site providing free advice on elderly care, including specialist directories for sheltered housing and retirement villages.
