About

The Supported Farming and Green Care service at St Werburghs City Farm offers learning disabled and autistic adults the opportunity to enjoy supported horticulture and animal care activities. Supported Green Care activities include growing flowers and vegetables, maintaining our community garden, making items to sell in the Farm shop, nature based crafts. Supported Farming involves feeding and watering the animals, mucking out stables, learning about the animals and interacting with them. All participants will get the chance to interact with the animals during their day at the Farm. We work in groups of no more than six participants, supported by two staff members and volunteers.

A full day at our service is 10:00-15:00, with lunch from 12:30-13:30. Half days are available.

Placements can be funded by the local authority, or participants can self-fund at £90 per day.

St Werburghs City Farm is a green urban oasis comprising a small-holding, a community garden, our woodland site at Boiling Wells, and a cafe. The Farm is open to the public 7 days per week, all year round. As well as our Supported Farming and Green Care service, the Farm also offers clubs, forest school, and alternative learning for children and youth, plus a range of free courses to adults experiencing mental ill health, loneliness, or other life challenges.
