All-Aboard Watersports - Visual Impairment Friendly Rowing

All-Aboard is an accessible watersports charity based in Bristol Harbour, dedicated to removing barriers so everyone can enjoy the benefits of watersports. We have currently launched a Rowing project for people with Visual Impairments where adults and young people can learn to row in Bristol Harbour with the support of friendly and experienced volunteers.

Adult Visual Impairment-Friendly Rowing: These sessions are designed for people with Visual Impairments to learn rowing in a fun and supportive environment. These sessions run every Sunday from 11am to 1pm from March to October. No rowing experience is needed. Participants will learn fixed-seat rowing in wooden hand-made boats, called the Cornish Gig and Skiff. These boats are designed for sea rowing so are very stable. There will be sighted rowers on the boat with the participants and can give any support or feedback needed.  Buoyancy Aids will be provided.

Youth Visual Impairment Friendly Friday After-school Rowing Club: We are launching a brand new after-school club for young people aged 11-18 years. The club will run on Fridays at 5 PM to 7PM from April to October (term time only). Participants will learn fixed-seat rowing with the support of volunteers and an instructor on Bristol Floating Harbour. They will row in a lightweight rowing boat called 'Trinity' boats. Participants do not need any experience. Buoyancy aids are provided.
