Homeshare West
Homesharing is a beautifully simple idea. It is about friendship, mutual respect and support for those who need some help to live independently at home.
Householders offer a bedroom and share the facilities of their homes. In exchange they get ten hours of companionship and practical help each week from a responsible, kind, trustworthy adult in need of safe, comfortable accommodation. They also have the reassurance of someone in their home overnight.
Homesharers are out during the day for their regular job or studies. They agree to be in the home at least three evenings each week and to sleep there every night, except for one weekend in three when they can go away if they wish. They are carefully vetted with a detailed face-to-face interview, character references and DBS a check before an introduction is made. The householder and the homesharer may meet a few times before deciding to share. That allows time get to know each other better, and to develop the confidence that they will be safe sharing the home.
The arrangement is supported by the Homeshare West Coordinator, and the Homesharing Agreement, which sets out the expectations of both parties.
