Young Carers (The Carers' Centre)

It’s not always easy to recognise the impact of looking after a partner, family member or friend. The Carers' Centre is a local charity and friendly community dedicated to supporting unpaid carers in the Bath and North East Somerset area. The Carers’ Centre offer a range of services to help unpaid carers focus on their health and wellbeing, connect with others in a similar situation and navigate the challenges of caring for someone due to illness, disability, mental health difficulties, addiction or as they grow older.

About

For young carers' aged five and upwards, we understand the pressure that is often placed upon young shoulders. They provide a caring role to support family and balance this alongside their education, hobbies and 'free' time.

We are here to offer support and community, by providing regular free wellbeing activities and opportunities that offer them a break from their caring role and to focus on their own interests and ambition. We also provide family days to enable families to enjoy some quality time together. These activities also offer the opportunity to engage with peers who are experiencing similar situations, and to benefit from the strength the caring community can provide.

We offer young carers' needs assessments where we consider their caring role, identify any needs they have and any support we, their family or their school can provide. We can support the school to ensure a plan is in place to recognise the needs of the young carer and their family.

We also offer the opportunity to join our Young Carers' Council where young carers can share their ideas, have their say about matters that affect them and meet lots of new friends!
