About

The Radstock Food Club is a vital community resource run by a small but dedicated team of volunteers and coordinated by SWAN’s Transport Manager.

Based at the Radstock Community Hub, this weekly service gives families living within 15-minutes of Radstock the chance to buy healthy food they would otherwise be unable to afford, by providing food at a significantly discounted rate.

Families of 3-4 pay just £4 per week for a parcel containing fruit, vegetables, bread, meat and other staples. Families of 1-2 pay £3 and families of 5+ pay £5.

Most of the food is provided by FareShare, via the re-distribution of surplus supermarket food. We receive a 250kg delivery every Thursday and open the Club every Friday.

We asked Food Club members to complete a short survey to gather feedback regarding their experience so far, how the service had impacted their life, and suggestions for improvement. We had a strong response rate, with 24 replies in 1 week, with 100% saying being part of the Food Club had been a positive experience so far. Some of the feedback provided can be seen below:

• “This has been my first time and I am so grateful, it has made a huge difference as I was worried how I was going to get through.”
• “Financially helpful for me being a single parent.”
• “Fantastic opportunity and very close to travel”
• “It has helped me to save money and therefore pay bills”
• “It makes it easier to get healthier food”

We look forward to welcoming you at Radstock Food Club.
