Disabled Children's Team

The Disabled Children’s Team provides support to children and their families where a child has diagnosed substantial and long lasting/permanent impairment. The team also works with children who have life limiting conditions.

What do we offer?

In order to establish whether the team will be able to provide you a service it would be best to make contact with the duty worker either directly yourself or through another key professional. We can provide advice and information, or we can provide more specialised services following an assessment of need.

Our Occupational Therapist assesses the needs of disabled children, offering advice on how to improve their quality of life as well as providing aids, adaptations and equipment, where appropriate. Advice is also available on moving and handling disabled children.

Who does the Disabled Children’s Team Support?

We currently work with disabled children and their families aged 0-18 years of age. We will offer you a duty call in the first instance to assess whether our service would be the most appropriate for your family, or direct you to other services that may be more appropriate.

Where is the service based?

The Disabled Children’s Team are based in the Civic Centre in Keynsham and can be accessed through appointments.  Social workers are able to visit you at home with prior arrangement.
