About

Many people experience difficulties such as anxiety, low mood and depression, which can lead to them feeling overwhelmed. NHS Bath and North East Somerset Talking Therapies practitioners are trained to help you understand more about these difficulties and suggest options that may help. This may be within our service or signposting you to the right place.

We offer support to people in the following formats:

  • Individual sessions offered online, via telephone or face to face to suit individuals’ needs
  • Courses online in a group setting
  • Online, guided self-help programmes

You can access our service if you are aged 16+ and are currently registered with a GP in Bath and North East Somerset.

We offer different types of talking therapy to meet different needs with therapists trained in:

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
  • Interpersonal therapy
  • Couples therapy for depression
  • Dynamic interpersonal therapy
  • Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EDMR)
  • Person-centred counselling for depression (PCE-CfD)

We also support people who are experiencing anxiety and depression related to:

  • Long term conditions (LTCs) such as diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), chronic pain, coronary heart disease (CHD), asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or long covid. As the experience of anxiety and depression can increase the negative impact of LTCs on our daily lives.
  • Perinatal period: one in five experience emotional difficulties during pregnancy and after their baby’s birth.

When accessing a NHS Talking Therapies treatment, you can also access support with trained employment advisers to help you find work, remain in work, or return to work.
