Suicide Prevention UK
Providing compassionate crisis support across Bath and the UK, including patrols, welfare outreach, and a free national helpline.
Suicide Prevention UK is a national charity dedicated to reducing suicide through proactive engagement, compassion, and practical support. We operate across the UK, with a strong and growing presence in Bath, where we have a dedicated Welfare Team that has been supporting the community for over two years.
Our Bath Welfare Team carries out regular patrols in and around the city, particularly in areas where people may be vulnerable or isolated. These patrols are made up of trained volunteers who approach people with compassion, offering a listening ear, support, and referral to specialist services if needed. Our presence can often make the difference between someone feeling completely alone and someone feeling seen, valued, and supported.
We work closely with local services, the emergency services, and other mental health charities to ensure a collaborative approach to crisis support. Our volunteers are trained to spot signs of distress and intervene safely and respectfully when someone may be at risk of suicide.
In addition to our patrols, we operate the National Suicide Prevention Helpline UK:
0800 587 0800 – this is a free service open to anyone who is struggling with thoughts of suicide or knows someone who is. The helpline is run by trained volunteers who provide a calm, supportive space to talk, no matter how big or small the problem may feel.
